Halal food in Yiwu · guide by a local

Halal Restaurants in Yiwu: A Local's Guide by Area & Cuisine

Yiwu feeds one of China's biggest communities of Muslim traders, so real halal food is everywhere around the market — but 'halal' on a sign can mean three different things. This guide maps the restaurants visitors talk about most, by street and by cuisine, says what each is known for, and is honest about what we have and have not checked ourselves.

Four tiers of halal, because 'no pork' is not a certificate

Every listing on this site carries exactly one of these four tags, decided by evidence we can show: Amap’s official halal-restaurant category, independent public posts, or the cuisine default. None of these places has been visited by us yet — the basis is written under the tag on every card.

Amap halal Amap (高德) directory category 清真菜馆; no independent certificate has been checked by usReported at least 2 independent public posts (or 1 post + the shop sign) call it halal — our own check has not happened yetCuisine-based · not verified cuisine suggests options to investigate; ownership, ingredients and halal certification are not verifiedNot checked no halal evidence in public sources yet — ask before you orderNot Halal serves pork or alcohol — listed only so non-Muslim readers can find local specialties
Cuisine alone does not confirm halal status or Muslim ownership. Amap lists some Hui and Xinjiang kitchens in its 清真菜馆 category; that is a directory classification, not independent certification. Check the evidence under each tag and confirm with the restaurant before ordering. Details of the verification process: How We Review.

Six places visitors name most often

One per cuisine and budget, chosen by how often public posts recommend them — not by our own rating, which comes only after a visit.

Listed from 157 public visitor posts, not yet from our own visits. What that means
Names, dishes, price bands and hours below are what visitors reported (rewritten in English, no quotes); halal status is marked reported, never certified, until a local checks in person. Prices, walk times and visit dates fill in after each visit.

今天上午带穆斯林客人逛市场,他们会寻找自己穆斯林相关的一些商品,比如经书盒、念珠、做仪式用的地毯、穆斯林衣服、还有一些香氛类产品

This morning I took Muslim clients around the market; they look for things tied to their faith — Quran boxes, prayer beads, prayer rugs, Muslim clothing, and fragrance products.

因为有很多做外贸的公司,所以这边聚集了很多外国的Msl和很多西北的小伙伴,一条街都是清真的夜市,想吃什么就能吃什么的感觉真棒!

With so many trading companies, the city draws foreign Muslims and lots of people from the north-west; there's a whole street of halal night-market stalls — you can eat whatever you fancy.

How we check

What "checked on site" will mean here

  1. We eat there and pay.
  2. We ask the owner or manager, in Chinese or Arabic, whether they are Muslim and where the meat comes from.
  3. If a certificate is displayed we photograph it, with the issuing body and date.
  4. We check the menu and the fridge for pork and alcohol.
  5. The tag, the method and the date go on the listing. Readers can dispute it; we go back.
Until then every listing stays Reported halal. Two cautions from visitor posts: a few Uyghur kitchens use cooking wine in some dishes, and some new ‘Mediterranean’ rooms serve cocktails — ask before you order.

Need help calling a restaurant?

If you have picked a restaurant, share its name, date, party size and dietary questions. Ask Justin about reservation or short Chinese communication help; the restaurant must confirm the booking and ingredients. Availability and any fee are agreed before the task begins.

FAQ

Questions visitors ask

Is Yiwu halal friendly?

For the First-Timer:Yes. Visitors put the resident Muslim community in the tens of thousands, and it shows: Turkish, Yemeni, Afghan, Syrian, Pakistani, Indian and Hui-Chinese restaurants line Chouzhou North Road and Chengbei Road, a whole road of Xinjiang kitchens sits behind Wu'ai Road, and the city has a large mosque with a packed Friday prayer. Halal butchers, halal supermarkets and delivery apps with a ‘halal’ search all exist.

For the Veteran:New places open and close every month; the New in Yiwu series tracks them.

Which restaurant should I choose if I only have one meal in Yiwu?

Visitors argue about this more than anything else. The short version: Ariana (Afghan) if you want the safest introduction, Sinbad (Yemeni) for the cheapest authentic plate, Sultan or Beyti if you want the famous Turkish rooms and do not mind a queue. See the decision table above.

Is there halal food near Yiwu International Trade City?

Yes, within a short walk of every district: a Lanzhou noodle counter on the ground floor of District 1, a row of halal kitchens in the Futian blocks behind District 1, Pakistani canteens two or three minutes from the gates, and Bosphorus about 400 m away. The district-by-district page lists them.

Where do Arabs eat in Yiwu?

Mostly on Chouzhou North Road, known as Exotic Street or the Middle East Street (稠州北路 / 异国风情街), where Yemeni, Syrian, Turkish and Afghan restaurants line the road from No. 129 to No. 590. See the Exotic Street guide.

Do restaurants in Yiwu have English or Arabic menus?

On Exotic Street, yes: visitors describe thick menus in Arabic, Chinese and often English, and staff who are themselves Turkish, Yemeni, Afghan or Pakistani. In the Xinjiang and Lanzhou shops expect Chinese menus with photos; our ordering card covers the phrases.

How do you verify halal status?

Four evidence labels: Amap halal category, visitor-reported halal, cuisine-based leads, and not checked. An Amap category is not a certificate, and cuisine does not confirm ownership or ingredients. We have not visited these listings yet; the evidence is shown so you can confirm directly before ordering.

Spotted a change (price, closure, halal status)? Report it — a local goes to check.
