Getting around Yiwu

Getting Around Yiwu: Taxi, Didi, Metro & Bus Explained

Yiwu is compact: airport, railway station, the market and Exotic Street are all short rides apart. The problem is not distance, it is not knowing what a ride should cost or how to tell the driver where to go. This hub fixes both.

Taxi

Everywhere, metered, cash or Alipay/WeChat. Show the driver card. Public sources put the tariff at about ¥8 for the first 2 km and ¥2.5/km after — read the sticker in the cab; visitor posts about overcharging at the station are common.

Didi

China's ride-hailing app. The English version accepts international cards, shows the price up front and removes the address problem. Visitors report Didi at roughly half the taxi price — but hard to get at the railway station on arrival.

How to set it up
Metro · International Trade City station — On site

Intercity metro

The Jinhua–Yiwu–Dongyang line has a station at the railway station (opened July 2026, per public sources) and one called International Trade City — exit D, about 300 m to District 1 East. ¥2 for the first 8 km. Also the visitors' favourite way to Hengdian (~44 min).

Bus & free shuttles

Free market shuttles run from the railway station (Market Line 3; Global Digital Trade Centre Line 1 since January 2026) and around the market (Line 1 loop). Bus 801 station → market bus centre 05:30–21:00, night bus 808, bus 102 from the airport. Chinese-only signage; pay with Alipay/WeChat or coins.

Buyer pitfalls

Three transport traps visitors warn about

The station is where visitors get overcharged

Posts describe a ¥58.7 meter from the station to the market, a ¥59 ride for 9 km, an ¥80 Didi trip that became ¥248 by detour, and a meter that read ¥27.8 five seconds after starting. Insist on the meter (请打表), follow the route on your phone, or book Didi from the underground pick-up zone.

Didi is half the price — but scarce on arrival

Several posts say ride-hailing costs half the taxi fare in Yiwu, and that nobody could get a Didi at the station at peak times. Walk to the west drop-off area or the metro instead.

Free shuttles exist and most visitors miss them

Market Line 3 and the District 6 line leave from the railway station for free; the market's own Line 1 loops the districts. Stops and timetables are being checked on foot.

FAQ

Questions visitors ask

Does Yiwu have a metro?

Yes, the Jinhua–Yiwu–Dongyang intercity line runs through Yiwu with a station named International Trade City (exit D, about 300 m to District 1 East, visitors report) and, since July 2026 according to public sources, a station at the railway station. Fares start at ¥2 for 8 km. We are riding it end to end to confirm exits and ticketing with a foreign passport.

Is there a free bus from Yiwu station to the market?

Yes, according to public notices: Market Line 3 and, since January 2026, the Global Digital Trade Centre Line 1 both leave from the railway station for free. Bus 801 (¥ fare) runs to the market bus centre 05:30–21:00 and bus 808 overnight. Stops are being checked on foot.

Can foreigners use Didi in Yiwu?

Yes. The English version of Didi accepts international cards and works in Yiwu; visitors report it at about half the taxi price. The setup steps are above.

How much is a taxi across Yiwu?

Visitor posts put the railway station to the market at about ¥58.7 on the meter (August 2026) and a 9 km city ride at about ¥59; public sources put the tariff at ¥8 for the first 2 km and ¥2.5 per km. Most rides between the market, Exotic Street, the station and the airport are short; metered benchmarks for each pair are in the table above once recorded.
