The five things worth knowing this month
- The metro now reaches the railway station. The Jinhua–Yiwu–Dongyang line’s Yiwu Railway Station stop opened on 1 July 2026 (public notices; test rides from late April), so the station-to-market trip is a ¥2–3 ride to the stop named International Trade City instead of a ¥40–60 taxi. Details on the railway station page.
- Two new halal kitchens with real weight: Deyuan Pure-Broth Beef Noodles opened its first Yiwu shop in August 2026 (a 30-year Lanzhou chain, Lanzhou-born visitors approved the broth), and Balangzai Xinjiang Mini Hotpot opened in April 2026 inside the Wuyue Plaza mall with a halal kitchen and one-pot-per-person service — the easiest hotpot answer for a mixed group.
- 33 restaurants and 19 hangouts were added to this site between its August and September builds, all located to an Amap pin: Caucasus (Azerbaijani), Senator, Sinai, Bayt Jiddi, Sweet Life, Cafe Turka, Dahab, bako’s, plus the shisha lounges, 24-hour Arab cafés, Turkish barbers and five-a-side pitches on the new Where Muslims hang out page.
- Chinese New Year 2027 will overlap the start of Ramadan. The Year of the Goat begins 6 February 2027; Ramadan 1448 is expected from 8 February. The market’s 2027 closure notice is not out yet (2026: 13–28 February). Plan sourcing trips for January or March.
- Christmas sourcing season is over for 2026 orders. Traders told Chinese media that peak order-taking moved to mid-March this year; the District 1 floors are now quiet enough to walk and photograph.
Places that appeared in public posts recently
Halal tags follow the four-tier rule on How We Review; ‘newly listed’ means new to this site, not necessarily new in town.
Take these off your list — or update them
- Nothing confirmed closed this month. We do not list a closure on one unverified post. Two places have no confirmed Amap pin and may have moved: Levant (CBD area) and Kelaida (Turkish, private rooms) — both show “address to confirm” on their cards until someone walks past. If you know, tell us.
- Sultan’s quieter branches (Chaoyangmen Plaza opposite the World Yiwu wall; Xinguanghui) keep appearing in posts as the way to skip the 60-table weekend queue at the Chouzhou Road original. Same menu, same kitchen lineage.
- Beyti’s upscale sister, Amanka, inside Yiwu Tiandi mall, is now the answer visitors give when the street is packed; it is five minutes from Xiuhu metro station.
- Market hours reminder: the operator lists District 1 trading 09:00–11:30 and 13:00–17:00; posts keep warning that stalls pack up from 16:30, so the market stays a morning job.

What changed here between the August and September builds
- Every restaurant, hotel and hangout card now says how it was verified: Not visited by us yet · based on N public posts + Amap listing, instead of a greyed-out “review coming soon”.
- The halal tag became a four-tier evidence system (Amap category, not a certificate / Reported / Cuisine-based, unverified / Not checked) with the basis written under each tag; 19 restaurants carry Amap’s official 清真菜馆 category.
- The author is now named — Justin — with a real photo, and the contact form prepares a WhatsApp draft for you to review and send; email delivery is not connected.
- Taxi fare tables gained road-distance estimates for 22 routes; hotel cards gained deposit, card and breakfast facts from Trip.com.
- Ramadan 1448 dates, the 2027 New Year overlap and the Christmas-floor locations were added from public sources.
What we are checking in October
First in-person visits on Exotic Street (Sultan, Beyti, Sinbad, Bosphorus) with the bill photographed; the taxi meter sticker; the market-line shuttle stops on foot; and the 2027 New Year closure notice the moment the market group publishes it. Readers who spot a change first get credited in the next issue.
Arrival, payment setup and useful Chinese phrases.
First visit checklistQuestions visitors ask
How often is this digest published?
Monthly, near the end of the month; this is issue 1 (September 2026). Items come from public posts and listings we read that month plus reader reports; our own visits are marked as such.
Can I report an opening or a closure?
Yes — use the contact form with the place name in Chinese if you have it and a photo of the shopfront; a local checks it within a week and credits you in the next issue.
