By metro, step by step

The route visitors recommend

  1. Go to a Jinhua–Yiwu–Dongyang line station

From the market use the International Trade City stop; from the railway station, the Yiwu Railway Station stop (open since 1 July 2026). The line runs east towards Dongyang and Hengdian.

  2. Buy a single ticket

Machines in the station hall sell single tickets for cash (¥1 coins and ¥5, ¥10 or ¥20 notes): choose the destination or the fare, then the number of tickets. The Alipay transport code also works. No passport is needed for a single ticket; face-scan entry needs a Chinese ID card, so it is not an option for foreign visitors.

  3. Ride to the end of the line

The published station list ends at 明清宫 (Míngqīnggōng), named after the studio park, with 横店高铁站 (Hengdian high-speed railway station) the stop before. Visitors put the ride at about 44 minutes from central Yiwu.

  4. Pay the distance fare

¥2 for the first 8 km, then ¥1 per 4 km up to 28 km and ¥1 per 6 km beyond; the whole line costs ¥17. From central Yiwu that works out at roughly ¥8–10 each way.

  5. From the station to the parks

The parks are spread out across Hengdian town; take a local taxi or ride-hail to the park you picked, and keep its Chinese name ready (see the table below).

Which parks

Pick two, not five

ParkChineseWhat it isTime to allow
Qin Palace秦王宫A vast Qin-dynasty palace set with walls and throne hallshalf a day
Ming–Qing Palace明清宫苑A full-scale replica of Beijing’s Forbidden Cityhalf a day
Guangzhou Street · Hong Kong Street广州街·香港街19th-century Chinese and colonial streets — the complex’s first set2–3 hours

Tickets are sold per park and in combined passes; prices change by season, so check the official site or Trip.com the day before. You will walk past costumed extras and, sometimes, a live shoot — ask before photographing actors. Sets include temple and palace scenery used as film backdrops.

04

What to expect on the day

Hengdian is a working film town: the parks are film sets that open to visitors, so a scene may be shooting behind a rope while you walk past, and some areas may be closed for filming. Expect a lot of walking between and inside the parks — comfortable shoes matter more than anything else you pack. Summer days are hot with little shade on the palace squares; bring water and a hat. Weekends and Chinese public holidays bring the domestic tour groups, so a weekday visit is calmer. Signs and show announcements are mostly in Chinese; the set names in the table above are enough to find your way with a map app. If you only have half a day, one palace park plus the metro ride is a satisfying trip on its own.

05

By taxi or ride-hailing

Road distance is about 32.2 km from the market and 42.0 km from Yiwu Railway Station (Amap routing, 2026-09-22). On the official meter formula that is ~¥110–192 estimated from the market and ~¥144–252 estimated from the station; drivers often quote a flat price for out-of-town trips, so agree it before you set off, or use the Didi or Amap taxi tab to see the price first. For a group, a car saves the metro-plus-taxi transfers at the Hengdian end. See Taxis & Didi in Yiwu for fares and how to avoid detours.

Halal food and prayer on a Hengdian day

  • Inside the parks we know of no halal food. Carry lunch: a flatbread and fruit from Yiwu, or a proper breakfast before you leave — see halal breakfast in Yiwu.
  • In Hengdian town there are Lanzhou-style noodle shops, traditionally Hui-run; none is verified by us, so use the 30-second check at the counter.
  • Prayer: we know of no prayer room at the parks. A full day covers Dhuhr and Asr: check the day’s times on the Yiwu Mosque page, carry a small mat and a compass app, and look for a quiet corner away from the sets.
  • Back for dinner: the metro gets you back to the International Trade City stop, a short ride from Exotic Street.
07
  1. Leave Yiwu by 8:30

Studios open in the morning; queues build by 10.

  2. Pick two or three sets

The complex is huge; the palace and the old-street sets are the usual picks.

  3. Lunch on site or back in Yiwu

Halal options on site are limited; eat before or bring food.

  4. Return by evening

Back for dinner on Exotic Street.
